Welcome to the website of the Community Alliance.

The Community Alliance is a partnership of bassac (British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres), Community Matters and the Development Trusts Association. If you are a member of one of these organisations then you can benefit from an enhanced range of products, services and networks to help you run your community organisation.

Who are we here for?

Children at Bradford Trident Community Anchor
Our members. Up and down the country, organisations known as community anchors are making extraordinary differences to people’s lives. These organisations sit in the heart of their communities. They know their communities inside out and from this knowledge devise tailored activities, services and support. They offer anything from vocational training for young people living in inner city areas to volunteer taxi services for isolated older people in rural villages. Local people from the community manage and run these organisations, and very often work or volunteer in them as well.

The Community Alliance believes that community anchors are frequently the driving force in community renewal. We hear on a daily basis of the incredible work which anchors do, often in the most deprived areas of the country. We believe that their strength comes from their intimate knowledge of local needs, which comes from the fact they are rooted in the communities they serve.

Why do we do what we do?

The Community Alliance came together because we believe that working in partnership is powerful. We can provide more services and can speak for our members with a stronger voice.

Being a member of the Community Alliance means that you will have access to a wider community membership and integrated products and services, all directly targeted at achieving sustainability, long term social change and community empowerment.
