Support available for delivering Safer Homes Fund (SHF) grants
Communities and Local Government (CLG) have recently appointed three Handyperson Service Coordinators to act as a resource hub for handyperson services and to provide delivery support to handyperson services funded through the Home Office’s Safer Homes Fund (SHF).
The Handyperson Service Coordinators are based in the three regions where there is the majority of SHF activity; however they will cover all areas as far as they are able.
The role of the Handyperson Service Coordinator includes:
- Supporting the delivery of CLG-funded handyperson schemes and schemes supported by SHF
- Gathering and disseminating good practice in the delivery of home security measures by handyperson schemes
- Mapping the provision of handyperson services across your region
- Planning for extending the handyperson shelf life of SHF over and beyond the end of March 2010
The Handyperson Service Coordinators can also help with the following:
- Facilitating links with other service providers and with commissioners
- Developing and sharing good practice
- Giving general advice and support to handyperson service providers or commissioners
If you are a Safer Homes Fund grant recipient, please contact your regional Handyperson Services Co-ordinator as a matter of course.
