bassac

bassac (British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres) is the national network of multi-purpose community based organisations, dedicated to tackling the causes and effects of poverty, exclusion and discrimination.

bassac has worked to improve the lives of local communities for more than eighty years and as a national umbrella association, it supports a network of independent community based organisations united by a common goal to tackle the causes and effects of poverty, exclusion and discrimination.

bassac aims to build stronger communities by supporting, advising, involving and representing its members in key policy areas, information sharing, developing multi-purpose approaches and by supporting the sustainable development of the wider community sector.

bassac vision

for neighbourhoods in which people can thrive and fulfil their potential, whoever they are and wherever they live.

bassac values

  • Tackling poverty, exclusion and inequality because we believe in human diversity. Giving people the power to change things themselves because we believe that citizens can tackle community issues head on.
  • Developing neighbourhoods that are sustainable in cultural, environmental, economic and social ways because we believe in solutions that endure.
  • Raising the voices of local people and organisations because we believe that local people understand community issues best.
  • Sharing learning because we believe that by exchanging experience we can confront poverty and inequality.
